The rental car saga finally came to a quiet end on Friday (read the Day 1 and Day 2 posts if you haven’t already) after we took the train back to Blois to return the car keys and try to solve the issue of returning a car to a different facility than the one we rented from or the one that we picked up a replacement from after the accident. Pretty sure we’ve been put on the “DO NOT RENT” list at Avis after all of that.
AND… we never made it to the Costco in Paris so we can’t say what cool and wonderful French things they have there. We’ll try again at some point.

We did come across one of these kiosks though while we were out this week. In villages too small to support their own bakeries and/or restaurants, and even in bigger ones sometimes for convenience, they have these machines that can make you a hot and ready pizza or others that sell you baguettes. This one was in the parking lot of a gas station, outside a grocery store.
One of the YouTubers we watch for inspiration on our French journey, Baguette Bound, has talked about how they once lived in a village so small they had to drive to a vending machine to buy their baguettes and we’ve drawn the line at that. We’ll never stay anywhere small enough to have to buy bread from a vending machine. Life is just too short for that!
We’ve been having a little heat wave here in Orléans, high 80s and low 90s, and one of us (me) is really missing air conditioning, which is rare in France. Wish us luck as we start preparing to move on to our next city, Angers, France, where we’ll be heading in less than two weeks!
