We plan to post more frequently than once a week, but this week was A LOT! Over the past week, we:
- Packed up our remaining house items into a U-haul truck (we had professional help, thank goodness!)
- Sold the last of our cars
- Said goodbye (for now) to many friends
- Closed on the sale of our house
- Drove the U-haul truck to Northern California (1.5 days)
- Unloaded the contents into a storage unit (again with professional help)
- Settled into an extended stay hotel with 6 suitcases and a bike box
Adventures like this always come with some learning experiences — it’s the unknown unknowns that will get you every time. For example, we learned that after you sell your last car, your auto insurance company will immediately cancel your policy without the opportunity to keep coverage temporarily. That meant that we had no vehicle insurance to drive the U-haul truck or any borrowed or rental cars over the next few weeks and U-haul couldn’t (wouldn’t?) help us. We scrambled and with the help of Jazzel at Puget Sound Insurance, we got a policy to cover our drive and bought ourselves a few days to figure out what temporary insurance we’d need after we arrived in California.
Today is our first day to relax and have some fun in several weeks. Earlier today we took a long hike to a mountain lake and after, we ate some really great ice cream. It was perfect weather and a nice drive to get there.
T-15 days until we leave for France!
